REACT provides regular and emergency rail premises cleaning of depots, stations and transport hubs

As well as trains, carriages and track, rail travel relies on a massive estate of properties. Whether it’s an operator-managed station or a manufacturer-owned depot, all this physical infrastructure needs cleaning on a regular and emergency basis. Not only is it important to keep customers safe and happy throughout their journeys, but it’s vital to maintain health and safety behind the scenes. Here at REACT, we’ve got the expertise to deliver rail premises cleaning in the round.

All operators and manufacturers need rail premises cleaning, from stations to depots

With significant footfall almost 24 hours a day, train stations are amongst the busiest environments in any transport network. We provide scheduled nightly cleaning services to maintain standards. We positively influence passenger and staff experiences by removal of litter and rubbish, and we ensure areas are clean and free of dirt. Alongside this, we offer ad hoc incident-related services. This ensures that all areas are clear from hazards such as spillages, broken glass and unsightly (human) waste.

There can also be more serious biohazards on the rail network. When areas are contaminated with used needles and syringes, it is vitally important to clear the area quickly and effectively. Our team are fully insured and vaccinated against blood-borne viruses such as tetanus and hepatitis, and we use robust procedures to clear the affected area. Collected sharps, needles and syringes will be disposed of in strict accordance with legislation, including a certificate of disposal.

It’s not just public areas that need regular and ad hoc cleaning. Depots, maintenance pits and access platforms can become heavily soiled, notably with oil and engine fluids. These require specialist treatments to remove them, with proper disposal of waste for good environmental management. We provide a comprehensive cleaning service for all manufacturer and operator depots, maintenance pits and access platforms.

We’re high level cleaning specialists for stations and depots

Whatever the premises, high-level canopies face the full force of the weather and are often particularly fouled by bird guano. Our high-level and rope access teams are fully trained and can resolve cleaning projects in all depot and public station/platform environments. Within stations, proximity to the line and overhead line equipment (OLE) are critical considerations, meaning specialist knowledge and expertise are required. We’re able to organise and manage possessions and isolations and utilize specialised equipment such as non-conductive towers and scaffold, non-conductive cleaning systems and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWP) to get the job done.

We’re fully compliant with the Work at Height Regulations 2005. We properly plan and organise all such assignments, and we ensure that the team are competent to perform these duties. We conduct a thorough risk assessment and correctly deploy and use specialist equipment, paying particular attention when working near fragile surfaces. We thoroughly inspect and maintain all equipment to the highest standards.
